Council award for city scientist

Hamilton-based Fonterra scientist Dr Brendan Gill is this year’s winner of the Hamilton City Council Emerging Scientist Award at the annual Kudos Awards.

Pictured here with Mayor Andrew King at the recent awards ceremony in the city, Dr Gill is a recognised global expert for his efforts supporting the quality of nutritional formulas, just five years since completing his doctorate.

His work proving the vitamin and nutrient content of Fonterra’s infant formula has been critical to success in a number of highly regulated markets.

Two of Dr Gill’s methods are now benchmarks for chemical analysis and used in laboratories in Australasia, Asia, North America and Europe.

Mayor King said the Council was pleased to support the awards.

“It’s great to be part of supporting and encouraging our hugely talented science and innovation sector which is crucial to our success locally and regionally.”
