Dog owners it’s that time of year again! Time to renew your dog’s registration.

Hamilton has more than 12,000 dogs and they all need to be re-registered with Hamilton City Council before Sunday 30 June.

All dog owners who registered last year have this week been sent an email or letter with details of payment – and if they pay before 30 June, they’ll receive a $15 prompt payment discount. If your dog is not registered by the 1 August then a 50% penalty fee will apply.

There are several ways to register, including through the Council’s Dogs Online portal, at the front counter of the Municipal Building, at Animal Education and Control, or via post.

If dog owners pay online and before 30 June they will not only receive the $15 discount on their fee, but will also go into the draw to win one of two prize packs. These include a refund of their dog registration, a 12kg bag of Iams Pro-Active Health Formula dog food and a large selection of dog toys from Kong’s.

The Council’s Animal Education and Control Manager Susan Stanford says payment of dog registrations helps provide animal-related services to dog owners in Hamilton.

“We’d like to thank all dog owners in advance for paying their dog registration fee for the year, which goes to supporting our Animal Education and Control team,” Susan says.

“A lot of work is done behind the scenes by our team to provide benefits to the dog owners of Hamilton.”

Owners who register their dogs online will receive their yellow dog tag about 10 working days after the application is submitted. Dogs are required to wear a collar with the current registration tag at all times.
