The Expressions of Interest process for governance roles with the new Waikato Community Lands Trust has opened.
The trust is a new initiative aimed at addressing the home ownership challenges faced by residents in the Waikato region, and has received support from Hamilton City Council, Waikato Tainui, Momentum Waikato, Habitat for Humanity, WEL Energy Trust, Trust Waikato, Te Runanga o Kiririroa, Community Housing Aotearoa and the Waikato branches of the Property Council and Institute of Directors.
The Council’s Community Development staff are supporting the Trust’s Appointments Panel in the selection of suitably skilled and experienced people to take up roles as trustees.
People lodging an Expression of Interest must be able to demonstrate skills and experience in:
- The legal profession.
- Accountancy and financial management.
- The property market and its drivers, including property management and development.
- Community sector work and related networks.
- Experience in governance roles.

The Expressions of Interest process closes 30 November 2019. The screening of applicants and the final selection of suitable trustees is expected to take place early December 2019.
