Hamilton City Council holiday closing hours

We're taking a break

Hamilton City Council’s facilities and services have reduced opening hours over the holiday season.

The main Council office will be closed from midday Friday 24 December and reopen 7.45am Monday 10 January 2022.

If you have an urgent request or an emergency, you can contact the Council Call Centre, 24 hours a day, on 07 838 6699. Any non-urgent enquiries can be sent to info@hcc.govt.nz or by using the Antenno App, however the response time may be delayed.

There are no changes to kerbside rubbish and recycling collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

Please put your bins out at the normal time on the normal day.  For further information on rubbish and recycling, or ways to reduce waste in the city, click here.

The Lincoln Street Refuse Transfer Station in Frankton and the Hamilton Organic Centre will remain open over the festive season, closing only on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The transfer station will be open on Boxing Day and 2 January but with restricted hours from 9am – 4pm.

If you’re spending the festive season in Hamilton, there’s lots to do!

The Hamilton Gardens will be open on Christmas Day (except for the Enclosed Gardens, Information Centre and café). Waterworld, Hamilton Zoo, Waikato Museum and ArtsPost will be open every day except Christmas Day.

All Hamilton City Libraries and Gallagher Aquatic Centre will be closed from 25 December – 28 December 2021 and 1 January – 4 January 2022.
