Rubbish and recycling changes over Queen’s Birthday weekend

Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections will be collected a day later than usual following Queen’s Birthday.

From Tuesday 2 June kerbside recycling collections will resume for glass, cans, tins and plastics type 1-2. Paper and cardboard collections will continue but for now, will be sent to landfill.

The Refuse Transfer Station will be open for rubbish drop-off on Queen’s Birthday Monday from 9am to 4pm. The Hamilton Organic Centre will be open from 8am to 5pm for glass, cans, tins and plastics 1-2 drop-offs. The Hamilton Organic Centre will also accept green waste.

Recycle right – quick tips:

  • Recycle plastic 1 and 2, glass, tin, and cans.
  • Wash and squash all containers.
  • Paper and card separated out, folded and tied, and placed on the side.
  • Don’t overfill your crate.
