Christmas tree lighting
New Zealand’s biggest and most beautiful Christmas Tree, it’s 27 meters tall to the tip of the star.
It dominates Garden Place once again in 2018 and will be a great focal point for the community to gather, watch, perform and celebrate the festive season. The tree will light up for the first time on Saturday with a special event that includes the opportunity to sing some favorite Christmas carols.
The Big Shave Off
Four cops, four beards and four wives that want them gone. The beards that is. Constable Driver has been asked by many people to shave that ‘thing’ of his face. He now is and has dragged four colleagues along for the ride – Detective Joubert, Craig, Custody Officer Dixon and Constable Driver have elected four charities to raise money for. Their target is $10k, $2.5k per charity. The shave off will be done in public so all are welcome to come and cheer them on. This will happen at the Riverbanks, overlooking the river from 2pm.
