From Synthony to song: cricket to kick-off

Hamilton’s H3 group is looking forward to a busy month of unmissable events in the city.

December sees the return of international cricket to Seddon Park; there’ll be an exciting clash between the Māori All Blacks and Moana Pasifika at FMG Stadium Waikato; and music events at Claudelands Arena such as the phenomenal dance party, Synthony.

Māori All Blacks v Moana Pasifika
Saturday 5 December
Bringing a celebration of cultures, connection and entertainment to FMG Stadium Waikato, the Māori All Blacks and Moana Pasifika teams will come together for a special rugby match on Saturday 5 December. Kicking off at 7.05pm, the game will be the first clash this year for the Māori All Blacks. It will also be their first match in Hamilton since playing Samoa during the 2008 Pacific Nations Cup and the first time a team has played under the Moana Pasifika banner. Ticket prices start as low as $5 for kids and $15 for adults.

Saturday 12 December
Set in the Claudelands Barn, experience the charm and magic of Christmas at this festive market. You’ll find unique gifts from local crafters, designers and producers. Soak up the Christmas atmosphere with delicious fresh food, live music and special appearances from Santa Claus himself.

Synthony 2020
Saturday 12 December
A true celebration of the dance music of our generation – this is not an orchestra as you know it. Coming to Claudelands Arena, Synthony is a unique collaboration between DJs, orchestras and feature vocalists and musicians. They’ll be performing the biggest dance tracks of the last 30 years, complete with an immersive light, laser and visual spectacle. Featuring the Auckland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Peter Thomas and hosted by General Lee. Show starts 9pm.

Dancing Queen – A Tribute to ABBA
Tuesday 15 December
Direct from Australia, the world’s premier live ABBA tribute is back at Claudelands Arena by popular demand after a sell-out New Zealand tour in 2018. The ABBA show is a full-scale concert production featuring more than two hours of fun, energetic musical performances with a live backing band, replica costumes, theatrical lighting and effects and all the dancing an ABBA fan can handle. Show starts 8pm.

BLACKCAPS v Pakistan
Sunday 20 December
Get your finish to the year sorted with international cricket. The BLACKCAPS will face Pakistan in three T20 internationals before Christmas to help wrap up the year. Round up your family or friends and head to Seddon Park on Sunday 20 December for their second T20 match.
