One lane of Te Rapa Rd between Wairere Dr and Garnett Ave/Vardon Rd will be closed on Monday, 23 July to allow installation of more efficient LED streetlights and maintenance of gardens.
To minimise traffic disruption, the inside lane will be closed from 9am to 3pm between Wairere Dr and Vardon Rd/Garnett Ave while work takes place in and above the centre island.
The LED light installation and gardening teams will start from Wairere Dr and work south along Te Rapa Rd to Vardon Rd/Garnett Rd, then turn and work north back to the Wairere Dr intersection.
Road users are asked to take care when travelling through this area, with traffic management in place to ensure the safety of the teams.
People are thanked in advance for their patience during this work to improve the city’s infrastructure and keep Hamilton looking attractive.
Once the gardening work has been completed, the remaining LED light installation work on Te Rapa Rd will be done at night to reduce traffic disruption.
The LED light installation along this arterial route is part of the second stage of the citywide rollout of 13,000 more efficient and lower maintenance LED streetlights to Hamilton.
