On the Move

River path under repair

Sections of the river path from Hamilton Parade to Matakanohi Reserve on the western side of the Waikato River will be closed from Wednesday 11 March for maintenance and repair.

The work will take place over four to five weeks and is weather dependent. It will start with the Hamilton Parade to Fairfield Bridge section.

Cobblestones on the popular walking path have become unstable and need to be secured.

This is partly wear and tear but also the result of vandalism, with cobbles removed and thrown from the path.

Much of the path to Matakanohi Reserve will still be accessible to the public. However on days when full closure is required, path users will need to detour via adjacent streets.

The stretch of path between Ann Street and St Andrews golf course will be fully closed with no public access while under repair. This section is expected to take about three weeks to complete.
