A section of road and two car park areas at Hamilton Lake Domain will be closed to the public on Friday 7 June to allow for an urgent tree pruning job.
A recent assessment by Hamilton City Council staff has revealed a large oak tree near the Domain’s popular destination playground requires the removal of several branches to prevent branch failures.
To undertake the work safely, the road behind the Domain’s The Verandah Café will be closed for the day, preventing access to the car parks beyond the destination playground and near the public toilets.
Parents and caregivers are asked to keep children under close supervision while the pruning is being done, and there may be short periods of time during the job when families are asked to temporarily vacate the playground while large deadwood limbs are removed.
The job is expected to run from 8am to 4pm.
