Work starts on Monday 3 September to upgrade the traffic lights on the corner of Victoria and London Sts, bringing improved safety for those who travel through this central city intersection.
Additional traffic sensors and traffic light displays as well as more accessible kerbs at pedestrian crossing points will make this intersection safer for all users.
On Monday 10 September work will also start to replace the watermain on the south side of London St between Victoria and Barton Sts.
This work, which is part of Hamilton City Council’s ongoing maintenance programme of key city assets, will require opening up sections of the footpath, and may also need work on the road.
Those travelling through this area are asked to take extra care and to be aware pedestrian redirections and road lane closures will be required from time to time.
The Council’s Infrastructure Alliance team and contractor for the watermain work will be doing their best to minimise disruption to people and businesses, but some disruption should be expected because of the nature of the work.
Both jobs are expected to be completed by the end of September, and the Council thanks people for their patience and understanding while it is done.
