Tree pruning operation for Hukanui Rd

A section of  Hamilton’s Hukanui Rd will be under traffic control on Wednesday, 30 January, to allow for the pruning of several large trees.

Hamilton City Council’s  arboriculture crew will undertake the work, on a stand of large oak trees on the eastern side of the road.

The trees, opposite Chartwell Shopping Centre, have large limbs which hang over the road: pruning the trees and removing some deadwood is considered prudent tree management for specimens of this size and age, particularly on what is a busy urban road.

The crew’s worksite will include parts of the southbound lane of Hukanui Rd, which will be under stop/go  traffic control while the job is done. Road users may encounter short delays and should consider alternative routes. Access into Chartwell Shopping Centre will not be restricted.

The Council’s arborists will be working from 9am to 3pm.
